Religion
Students in all grade levels participate in daily prayer, weekly Eucharistic Adoration, monthly liturgies, prayer services and Christian service projects as they grow in their knowledge of God and their faith.Kindergarten religion assists children in understanding and recognizing that God created, loves and cares for us as they are called to be His followers. They will also recognize the Church as family and grow to accept Jesus as a friend and brother.
First Graders grow in their faith as they learn about God, Jesus, and the Church. Focus is placed on God’s goodness and love and how we can spread God’s word and love everyday.
Second Graders continue to learn about God’s love and respond to His call to love and forgive others as they place special emphasis on preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.
Third Graders continue to respond to the call to be followers of Jesus. They grow in faith, holiness and trust and learn to be one in a faith with others.
Fourth Graders focus on the Beatitudes and the Ten Commandments as they continue to follow Jesus with the guidance of the Holy Spirit and use Christian morality to develop their conscience.
Fifth Graders study sacramental life of the Catholic Church and learn that the Church is the sacrament or sign of Christ in the world today.
Sixth Graders study the roots of their faith in the Old Testament and explore the books of the Old Testament, as they learn about the promises made to Abraham, Moses and the prophets.
Seventh Graders study the life and ministry of Jesus as revealed to us in the New Testament, learning to appreciate the meaning and significance of the sacramental life of the Church.
Eighth Graders work to understand and live the mission of Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Church, tracing the historical development of the Church from the time of Jesus to the present.
